Deep in the blue waters of Costa Rica, most sharks try very hard to be invisible. They have dark skin that looks like the muddy ocean floor so they can hide from danger and catch their dinner without being seen.
But recently, fishermen pulled up a shark that broke all the rules. It was a Nurse Shark, which is usually a boring brown color, but this one was different. It was bright, glowing orange, like a giant goldfish swimming in the deep sea. It even had strange white eyes that looked like pearls.

This shark was incredibly special because it had two very rare conditions at the same time. One condition turned its skin yellow-orange, and the other, called albinism, took away the dark color from its eyes. It is almost impossible to find a shark like this because being bright orange in the ocean is usually a very bad idea.
It is like wearing a neon sign that says “Eat Me!” to bigger predators. Scientists had never seen a shark like this in the Caribbean Sea before, and they were shocked that it was still alive.

The most amazing part of the story is not just the color, but the fact that this shark was a survivor. It was a fully grown adult, over six feet long. This means it managed to grow up, find food, and avoid enemies for years, even though it had no way to hide.
It proved that sometimes, being different doesn’t mean you are weak. This bright orange shark swam against all the odds and showed the world that nature still has beautiful and colorful secrets waiting to be found in the deep blue sea.
