11 Stunning Nature Photos From Last Year

1) Two Worlds

You can’t plan moments like this. It was pure luck. I was supposed to be shooting two kilometers away when the storm suddenly started.

Then I saw a red glow rising above the mountain. I ran to my car and rushed to the western side of the mountain, hoping I could catch whatever was happening in the sky.

8) Hybrid Solar Eclipse And Maasai Warrior

This photograph is my tribute to Geoffrey Lowa. He was a friend I never met in person. He was meant to be my host, driver, and photo model for a hybrid solar eclipse in Kenya.

Sadly, he was killed just one week before I arrived. His friend Peter Nakua, who tried to save his life, is standing on the hill during the eleven seconds of totality.

9) Spanish Beauty

Clouds flowed above Mount Fuji. Using long-exposure shooting and finishing the image with blue tones made it feel like I was in a different world. When I saw the final image, it felt like I could hear jazz playing.

Tateyama is one of the snowiest places in Japan. This photo was taken in early May, yet the entire landscape was still covered in snow.
