A Giant Egg With a Hidden Secret
A Queensland farmer was going through his usual morning routine when something unusual caught his eye.
Resting among the freshly collected eggs was one that looked almost unreal. It was enormous, nearly the size of an adult’s hand and three times bigger than a regular egg.
At first it seemed like a rare oversized find, but the real shock was waiting inside.
The egg was discovered at Stockman’s Eggs, a family farm in Kairi, about 82 kilometers southwest of Cairns.
The farm’s longtime egg collector, known as Zippy, had seen countless eggs over the years, yet nothing like this.
When the egg was placed on the scale, it weighed a remarkable 176 grams. The farmers gathered around, curious to see what such a giant egg might contain.

When the shell finally cracked open, the room fell silent. Inside sat a second fully formed egg, perfectly intact and resting in the middle like a secret wrapped inside another.

A Rare Wonder of Nature
Scott Stockman, the owner of Stockman’s Eggs, could only describe the discovery as a rare natural marvel.
He explained that finding an egg inside another egg is so uncommon that few people ever see it in their lifetime.
As the staff watched the giant egg open, they expected to find several yolks or some unusual shape. Instead they saw a complete second egg, something almost impossible to predict.

With more than 3,000 hens on the property, figuring out which chicken laid the extraordinary egg is nearly impossible.
Over the years the farm has found a few oversized eggs, some reaching up to 140 grams, but nothing has ever come close to the size of this one.
A Well Cared For Flock
Despite the shocking discovery, the Stockman family is confident that the hen responsible is healthy and thriving.
Their flock enjoys a balanced diet, plenty of space and gentle care every day. Scott Stockman explained that even with the best living conditions, this kind of event is still a one in a million occurrence.
It is simply nature showing that it always has a surprise waiting when least expected.
